How TripTrak Came To Be

TripTrak km was born out of an idea that came to me while being a freelance graphic designer starting my own design studio. Pumping gas one warm afternoon, my mind drifted into a plethora of ideas and the one that stood out the most was an easier way for me to log business travel.

I held onto this idea for quite sometime as I was focused on the design studio. 10 years later in May 2025, I started TripTrak km from a scribbled note in a notebook. Working 12 months, during off hours, breaks and sometimes until midnight I worked on this app.

It's just me: planning, design, coding, website development, marketing.

The Goal

TripTrak km was created to make business trip travel logging much easier than having to carry around a notebook or travel log book and remember each and every time to log drive time, trip reason, odometer readings for before and after. It's a definite pain!

The more I worked on developing TripTrak km the more I became very aware that other trip logging apps, while good in their own way, didn't put Canadians in their scope. TripTrak km is made by a Canadian for Canadian drivers in mind.

Canadian Based, Canadian Made

As a Canadian my focus is making this app tailored to Canadian needs. What I mean by this is: CRA centered tax scope, units of measurement, provincial business tracking options, language options for the French speaking communities. As well, keeping private tracking data in Canada, no information is housed on US servers.

The Person behind TripTrak km

My name is Cassie, I love all things IT. I have been in and around IT for the better part of my life starting from a kid taking a part an old Compaq Presario and a dot matric printer. I had been a professional graphic designer for over 20 years, moving from printing press work to professional design for national product rollouts, website development. After a complete burnout in the graphic design industry in 2021, I aligned my career trajectory to Networking, Cybersecurity and Systems Management and now moonlighting as an android developer!
